BACKSAFE®/SITTINGSAFE® are Injury Prevention Programs that reduce Workers’ Compensation costs. They are designed to have long lasting effects on your employees to reduce costly injuries both on and off the job. Boeing, Chrysler, Citibank, City Governments, and many other organizations of all descriptions are presently using our programs.
We design job specific workshops that are aimed at training employees how to perform their jobs bio-mechanically correct. We customize programs for all job descriptions including construction, law enforcement, material handling, office worker, etc. Our aim is to break workers’ bad habits and replace them with healthier ones that they will apply on a daily basis.
Additionally, in our SITTINGSAFE® Programs, employees learn how to set up any workstation ergonomically correct, at home or on the job, for their specific needs.
We have developed our training techniques to ensure that the worker “learns” safe working techniques. By “learning,” we mean that they acquire basic knowledge of the anatomy, biomechanics (ergonomics for the office worker) and stretching exercises, and are motivated to apply proper techniques to their jobs on a daily basis.
The key to our program is our kinetic learning module (obstacle course). We will teach your employees how to do their jobs correctly in their work environment by having them perform their job tasks under the supervision of our facilitators who coach them on how to do these tasks more safely. The obstacle course is customized only after we have conducted a thorough job site evaluation and employee interviews. We experience the typical physical routines of the employees. We become familiar with equipment, furniture etc, to be able to specifically understand their job tasks, demands and physical stresses on their bodies.
Our workshop consists of:
Job Site Analysis/Pre-Assessment – Thorough on-site observation and interviews with employees & management.
Design and customization of workshop – Based on our pre-assessment, we concentrate on at risk job activities in developing the program.
Job Introduction - We get employees to understand the program and become motivated to be responsible for their own wellness.
The Theory Module – Via one of our job specific BACKSAFE® videos (Material Handler, Truckers, etc.) and SITTINGSAFE® video employees learn about their bodies and the correct way to use them as well as how to adapt the physical environment to their advantage.
BACKSAFE® 3-minute workout - Each employee is taught how to perform a non-strenuous stretching routine before each shift and throughout the day, thereby preparing the body for work and relieving any physical stress.
Obstacle Course Participation - This is the main focus of our program and is where bad habits are broken and replaced with healthier ones.
Questions and answers – Opportunity for employees to clarify and assimilate the information they have just received.
Quality Control - Employees complete Course Evaluations and turn them in to instructor for Quality Control review.
Commitment - Employees discover what they learned and commit to start using this information daily.
Each workshop takes approximately two hours for up to a maximum of 20 people at a time. If time is a concern, we can perform the workshops in time sensitive modules.
